Yep, that’s right. Spider-Man is coming to TV in the flesh after nearly 50-years.

Amazon Prime have been working on a live-action Spider-Man series for sometime now, and whilst the show is indeed about Peter Parker it might not be what you expect.

Spider-Man has had many TV shows and many live-action movies in the last 20 years let alone since his conception, but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Peter in the flesh on our screens. That honour goes to The Amazing Spider-Man, a live action series starring Nicholas Hammond which ran from 1977-1979, funnily enough it ran alongside a Japanese version of the show called Spider-Man which ran from 1978-1979. But since then we’ve not seen him in live-action on our TV screens. That is however until Amazon release their new show next year!

But it’s not exactly what you’d expect, we’ve seen the story of Peter Parker told a thousand times. So it’s time to tell a fresh story for audiences, how about Peter Parker in the 1940’s as a detective? Well I hope you like that idea cause that’s what we’re getting. Remember Spider-Noir from the Spider-Verse animated movies which was voiced by Nicholas Cage? Yep, we’re getting that very Spider-Man for a full TV series, and the cherry on top is that Nicholas Cage himself is returning to play Peter Parker.

You can check out the first look below!

The story is based on a popular comic of the name Spider-Man Noir. The show, Spider-Noir, as it’ll be called will be a heavily stylised TV series in both colour and black & white as it follows Peter Parker. These are currently all the details we know of the show. However, a point worth mentioning is in the story of the comic Peter is quite young, where as Nicholas Cage, as of the time of writing this is 61-years old. Will Peter keep his mask on at all times, will Peter be aged up? Or will we see a different actor for Peter when his mask is off.

A project like this is perfect for Nic Cage it’s whacky, it’s wild, and it’s weird. I’m excited to see where this goes when it drops in 2026, but I’d be lying if I wasn’t also curious to see how they address the large age gap between the character and the actor.
