For years, it felt like one of those things that would never actually happen.

Every few months, there would be whispers of a possible Inbetweeners reunion, only for the rumours to fizzle out. But now fans can stop refreshing social media and clinging to old interviews because The Inbetweeners 3 is officially happening.

Netflix has announced that production on the long-awaited third movie is underway in the UK, marking the return of one of Britain’s most beloved comedy franchises. Even better, the original four stars are all back on board, with Simon Bird, James Buckley, Joe Thomas, and Blake Harrison reprising their iconic roles as Will, Jay, Simon, and Neil.

The news has sparked a huge wave of nostalgia online, with fans celebrating the return of the awkward quartet who somehow managed to turn every school trip, holiday, and social situation into a complete disaster.

The original series aired between 2008 and 2010, quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon thanks to its painfully relatable humour, cringe-worthy moments, and endlessly quotable dialogue. The success of the sitcom led to two blockbuster films in 2011 and 2014, both of which became massive hits and cemented the show’s place in comedy history.

Since then, fans have spent more than a decade wondering whether the boys would ever get back together.

Now they finally are.

Creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, the masterminds behind the original series and both previous films, have returned to write and direct the project. That has reassured fans who were worried a revival might lose the tone that made the franchise such a success in the first place.
