Seeing its first return since covid, it would seem to appear the EJ Whitten Legends Game of Aussie Rules Football is set to make a return in 2025!

9News Chief Football Reporter, Tom Morris, released a tweet on the platform X yesterday announcing that the game was looking to make a comeback. With a list of details about including both the location of the game and the date.

Whilst it is stated above that retired stars of the game and digital influencers will take part in the game (looking at you Richmond Gorringe). It’s not been confirmed yet if the game will fall back into its traditional format of one All-Stars team vs a state team. The news comes during a time when an AFL state of origin demands grow more and more, with the wish for more exhibition matches outside of the traditional season continue to grow.

The news of the game has already garnered much critical acclaim for a hungry audience keen to see more from the AFL world. Bringing back the EJ Whitten Legends game is massive step in the right direction for the AFL. Now. All we need is a State of Origin and to bring back AFLX.
